News from Foxfire Fiber & Designs

May 2008

With spring's arrival and the start of another Sheep & Wool Fair season, I have many new things to share. Over the past four weeks my barn has filled with adorable new lambs - 35 to be exact. You can read about this year's lambing season at my blog where I’ve posted stories about the new arrivals.

Speaking of arrivals, batches of my new yarns are arriving weekly from the spinnery. I am quite excited to introduce Upland Wool & Alpaca, the second yarn in my Upland yarn series. This blend features the wool of my fine and long-wool sheep blended with premium alpaca from a New England farm. It has a soft, luscious hand and I have dyed the skeins in rich earth hues. This yarn is stunning in the Terrazzo jacket pattern by Lisa Lloyd.

I am also pleased to officially debut a new pattern designed for the summer days ahead - the Vixen Shell by Lisa Lloyd. This dainty shell features an eyelet border at the neck, arm and hem which sets off the elegant knits and purls in the body. The yarn is also new — from my Dye Studio Collection. Filigree is a light-weight blend of merino wool and silk — perfect for warm weather. You can see both this new pattern and new yarn on the pages of my new website.

That's right — this spring I have given the website a complete makeover to better show my expanded range of product. While it will take a few more weeks to completely "move in," I hope you will enjoy browsing to see everything that's new.

This week begins my spring show schedule. May 10 & 11, I will be at the New Hampshire Sheep & Wool Festival, same building as last year (Cressey Building) but with twice the booth space. Along with my yarns, fibers, kits, spindles and needles (from Grafton Fibers) I am delighted to have autographed copies of Lisa Lloyd's gorgeous new book, A Fine Fleece available. And, a very special guest — Melissa Morgan Oakes, author of Two-at-a-Time Socks will be signing copies of her book which unveils the secret to knitting a pair of socks simultaneously — and will be available for purchase at my booth from 11 - 1 on Saturday.

You can also find me at WEBS Fleece Market on May 17 and at the Mass. Sheep & Wool Festival May 24 & 25. I hope you will stop by to visit!

With wishes for a happy spring,

Barb
